You can use a candle holder to create a cheap centerpiece. Even inexpensive candle holders add sparkle and ambience to a setting. Use this ability to your benefit by creating centerpieces featuring inexpensive candle holders.

You can begin your project by finding the cheapest glass vase cylinders that you can. All that you really need is a simple class cylinder into which you can set a tea light, votive, or pillar candle. You can go fancier if you wish by choosing a hurricane style candle holder for your centerpiece.

Now, once you have chosen your glass cylinder, you may choose various ways to decorate it. If you want a colored light or if you prefer diffused white light, you can attach glass appliqués to the outside of the cylinder with strong epoxy. If you use opaque appliqués, the result will be a romantic diffused white light shining from your candle centerpiece. If you choose colored appliqués, the candlelight will set the mood based upon the color that you have chosen.

You can further outfit your candle holder centerpiece by adding additional decoration such as faux holly leaves and foliage for a Christmas centerpiece. Many people set the candle holder amid an arrangement of silk, dried, or live flowers; a setting such as this might be appropriate for a wedding. You can set your candle holder amid a collection of seashells if you are creating a centerpiece for a beach setting. Decorators will often set a candle holder amid a bed of stone or glass pebbles to create a centerpiece with decorative flair.

There is really quite a lot you can do to create a decorative centerpiece that will add intimacy and or a special theme to your table setting using little more that an inexpensive candle holder and some decorative panache.

These days we seem to having quite a few large intense storms which cause us to have power outages, so it would seem that a back up light source is not just for when you head off on a camping or fishing trip, but also for keeping your home well lit and safe during these power outages. Every home should have a flash light in it, but to light up the rest of your home you would need a shopping cart full of lights and batteries. If you are at home during a power cut and want to read a book or something you will need a more consistent source of light, for this you can’t beat a hurricane candle holder.

Many people know what a hurricane lamp is, but might not have heard of a hurricane candle holder. Usually a hurricane lamp runs off of oil and burns a large wick, this is sheltered inside of a large glass case which can be any color, shape and size you can imagine. Hurricane candle holders are pretty much the same, but instead of using oil as its fuel, it burns a candle, the glass case around the candle is there to stop the wind or a draft from blowing the flame out.

The chimney surrounding the candle holder is made of glass, as we mentioned above, this can come in clear glass, frosted glass, or any color you can think of. You can also get these made from stained glass or from a material like ceramic. The shape of the glass case can vary quite a bit from the normal pear shape, to tubular or square shapes as well as many more. The bases for these candle holders are usually made from brass, but you can find them in almost any material you want, from woods to plastics. The shape and size of the candle you use will determine the shape of the candle holders base. If the candle you are using is either very tall or has a large bottom, then you will need a base that is quite wide.

The history of the candles you display and burn in your home is long and storied. They have been used for thousands of years in places from monasteries to castles and even your ancestors homes. They have gone from being the primary source of lighting to a luxury or decor item today. Lets take a look at the path they have followed.

Candles began in a primitive form compared to what we see today. They were first made from tallow with wicks of whatever was available and would burn. When lit they put off a foul and putrid odor that only the most accustomed would not notice. They also tended to be very smoky and hard on the eyes.

Then beeswax candles were created to remedy these situations but they were only available to the wealthy at the time. Beeswax was of course a product of limited availability and just as today that made it expensive. They were used in church services and aristocratic homes for many centuries and even today remain a popular candle.

Then came candles formed from whale oil, a type of candle I am personally glad is no longer popular. They looked and burnt very much like today’s products but also put off a very nasty aroma. They were available for everyone though due to the low costs of manufacturing. These candles were replaced with paraffin wax candles which are still used today. They burn pleasantly and with low smoke for hours on end. They are also cheap to manufacture making them readily available for all.

Today there are candles for decoration such as battery operated tea lights and candles for relaxation such as aroma therapy candles. If you have a need for a specific candle it is surely out there! As you can see they have evolved over the years into beautiful products and will most certainly continue to do so for generations to come.

Black candles are usually over looked due to the fact that they are thought of around Halloween time or even in a time of mourning. However, the use of black candles around your home can really add a bit of personality and uniqueness to any candle decoration. You can use them to add a little boldness to candle accents you already have in place, or you can design a new arrangement with the black candle as the focal point. Here are some examples of how adding black candles will spruce up your decor.

Adding a candle arrangement to your main bathroom or guest room is a cheap yet classy way to decorate. Not only are they inexpensive, but you can match them to just about any style of décor. Perhaps you have countertops that are cultured marble, tile or granite with some form of black accent throughout the hard surface. Adding a few light colored pillar candles with a few accenting black ones will bring together the candle assembly and countertops effectively.

Candles will make any bedroom romantic, no matter what their color. Strategically placing a few candles around the room will add a bit of elegance as well as provide a nice low light for those romantic evenings. Open up your mind to adding something new to your room’s appearance with a variety of different color candles. Adding a few on your night stands or shelves is an inexpensive way to change the ambiance of your bedroom. It is a nice lovely decorative piece and for those nights in, you already have installed mood lighting.

No matter what type of candle you want to use, whether it be black taper candles, pillar, or tea lights, you really can’t go wrong. You can easily move them around so if you want to spruce up another room or perhaps change colors, you can switch them out with other candles in your home.
