Beach cottage décor can mean several different types of themes.  You should consider what theme you would like to go with before you begin.  A mix match of beach décor themes will leave the room looking messy with no direction to it.  You want it to be more then just a room where you display every little cool trinket you found on your relaxing vacations.  After all, it wasn’t the trinkets that made your vacation so enjoyable, and calm, it was the setting you were in.

Another thing to consider are what types of furniture will you be using?  If you decided to go with say, an island tropical theme, rattan furniture or teak furniture  will show off your theme.  If you have chosen a nautical theme, then distressed furniture would go well. 

The next thing to consider are wall decorations.  It is always good to find a painting, or a wall piece that ties into your theme.  If you have the island theme going, finding a nice tiki mask, or a surf sign would definitely accent the room.  For you nautical, boat nuts, a nice harbor oil painting or maybe even a ship’s wheel clock would do fine.   For an ocean seascape theme, photos of crashing waves, or the sun setting over the water would be a lovely addition.

As you can see, there are several things to consider when deciding to re-decorate your home in a new theme.  However, the decisions can be fun and entertaining at the same time and rewarding when you find just the right piece.

There are a lot of sites that offer custom printed ribbon. I am still looking around. An issue with this is knowing who is going to show up. RSVPs for little girls’ parties can be hard to come by. I guess I will just go ahead and order the ribbon for each girl and if some don’t show up, we can prepare them a prize saying how we missed them and give them their ribbon to use. Or maybe I can save this ribbon for that kid’s birthday, a great and thoughtful gift to give them.

There are so many exciting things I can do with this craft themed party. I also want an interactive way of preparing the food. For this, I am considering mini pizzas. This party is all about individuality, something these tweens will surely understand!

In my old age I have grown wiser and lazier.  I have resorted to holiday neutral decorations over the past few years and have had great success.  With specific regard to Easter decorations there are a couple of items I cannot live without.  First, I have a 1950s era black and white rabbit and egg picture that I leave hanging up year round.  It is neutral enough to pass as art when it is not Easter time and when I have people over in the spring time they think I am thoughtful and creative for having such subtle seasonal decoration.  It’s win-win.  A link to something similar can be found in this article about Easter decorations.

The other item I have that I simply cannot live without are a set of very subtle shelf rabbit figurines.  These have a similar story to the photo listed above  They are all white so they go with anything and if they are out in the off season everyone just thinks I like rabbits.  If they are out in the spring my artistic friends will catch the subtle reference and suddenly we have something to talk about.  Simple.
