patio doorsLiving in any part of the world, family security always remains the top most priority of the head of the family. When making new construction of home or planning for renovation of the house, door repair or door replacement take lot of planning and thinking before going into any final decision.

The biggest benefit of UPVC patio doors is that they bring an extra flood of light all day to your home besides easy access to your garden. This is one big reason behind the popularity of the patio doors. As far as security issue is concern, the claims of providing some type of security through patio doors is in fact not correct because studies shows that culprits and criminals usually use patio entrance to break into the house.

Thus if you are planning to use UPVC patio doors in your home, you must keep some budget aside for an extra security surveillance system for your home especially installed around patio doors. But that does not mean that patio doors don’t provide any type of security as all. New styles and designs of UPVC doors are now available which somewhat solved the security issue. There are designs available with pre-installed alarm systems along with elegant temporary styles or permanent patio door fittings.

Security companies specialized in locks and burglar alarm systems, also offer specifically made locks to be used with patio doors. It is a better idea to improve the patio door security with some additional locks which should also visible to every one approaching to the door.

Option of patio door security bars is also very effective. Patio door security bars usually withstand up to one thousand pounds of force. Making the locks visible will allow burglar to see how much door is secure and there will fewer chances that burglar will make any attempt to damage the security.

To improve the security with UPVC patio doors, another way is to put extra screws on the upper track will prevent thieves to lift the patio door because in many cases due to extra ordinary width of glass, these cannot be broken and burglars try to lift the door as a whole.
