hanging flower basketIf you are like or the other 70% of Americans living in the city who suffer from the problem of lack of space when ti comes to gardening, plastic hanging baskets is what you should look at getting for your home. While they may have not been a viable option in the past, the various improvements and the large amount of variety that has marked their growth and the growth of the whole vertical gardening and farming industry has been nothing short of astounding. This is great news for individuals with green thumbs living in the city like I am as it makes for some very easy gardening without too much of a mess or fuss. Heck it sure beats planting small gardens in plastic storage boxes like some people used to and in some very congested areas like Brooklyn still do. There are however a few tips and guidelines to be followed when one is trying to do what is usually done in cast land in extremely limited space and I’m not talking about your balcony or your patio here.

I am talking about the hanging flower basket that is going to be home to those plants that you out in there for the next few years to come at the least if you take proper care of them. So what are these tips then you ask? Well they’re some pretty simple guidelines that will keep you and your baskets in the green and flowering.

What you need to do is to allow plants that are known to grow too fast and too much. This will help you avoid excess pruning and cutting as far as your baskets are concerned. If you have more than a couple of baskets, this can end up taking a lot of time. Another thing that you should look at is keeping the number of plants that you install in each basket low as you don’t want to starve the ones that are already in there of nutrition.
