Bead Storage Solutions

Beading, and crafts associated with beads such as jewelry making, are very popular these days and those involved usually have a great array of teeny items that they need to store and organize. Plastic storage box manufacturers have cottoned onto this growing need and have produced various designs specifically with bead storage in mind.

Before you rush into buying the first one you see however, you need to think about the structure of your collection – whether you have large beads or small ones, whether you have a large collection of only a few varieties of bead or lots of smaller sets. There is no point in buying a few larger bead containers if you really need hundreds of smaller ones.

You then need to think about where you are going to store your bead storage boxes. Will they be sitting atop your work table or on shelves? Will they need to be packed away each night into a closet? Drawers or carousels are good table top options whereas specific storage boxes that come in wheeled tote bags are good for packing up and rolling into a cupboard.
Only when you know what you need to store and where you are going to store it can you move onto determining which of the different varieties on the market will be best for you.

Plastic tubes are good for a large number of smaller sets of beads. Organizer boxes that come with a number of smaller boxes inside are good for a varied selection of beads, while drawers are good to hold possibly small boxes in one drawer, tools in another and part finished pieces in another.

Whenever you are considering making a purchase, make sure it covers the two basics of bead storage – the container should be clear so you can easily see what is inside and the lids should be secure. If you can get this right along with the solution being appropriate for your collection, you will not go wrong.
