What Are Your Twin Bedding Options?

Most homes have several twin beds. They are great to use in smaller guest rooms as they take up little space and they are the most common type of childrens’ bed as well.  When it comes to twin beds, fortunately there is a large variety of bedding available and as the beds are small, twin bedding is usually fairly cheap to buy and easy to find.  Most bedding stores sell bedding for all sizes of beds so it really should not be a problem finding something suitable when it is time to invest in some new bedding.

One word of caution, however, before you go shopping for your twin bedding set; some twin beds are actually longer than regular sized twin beds. While regular twin beds are fine for children to sleep on as well as for shorter adults, they are simply too short for many teenagers and adults. Thus extra long twin beds, that are five inches longer than regular beds, are also available. Before buying your twin bedding sets you may want to quickly measure the length of your beds inside your fitted bedroom to find out if they are regular size or the longer sized beds.  For your reference, a regular twin bed will measure 75 inches long, whereas an extra long twin bed will measure 80 inches in length.

Do not panic if you suddenly discover that the twin bed in your guest room is actually an extra long twin bed. While your regular twin bed sheets will not fit properly it is possible to buy extra long twin bedding. The choices are not as many nor as varied, but most bedding shops and other shops such as J. C. Penny stock these longer bed sets.

When you buy your twin bedding you may want to buy a couple of additional matching sheets, especially if your children are sleeping on twin beds. It is also nice to have an extra set of sheets for your guest room as well, as that way you can quickly change the sheets if new guests arrive without having to immediately rush and wash the bedding.  Usually, for guest and childrens’ beds, it is best to buy a nice cotton or cotton polyester blend of bedding.  This type of bedding is fairly sturdy and long lasting and it will hold up to the rigors a child will place it through fairly well. You also want to opt for something that is easy to wash as you will no doubt have to wash the twin bedding on a fairly regular basis.
