Purchasing Outdoor Glider Cushions

Outdoor gliders are an increasingly popular piece of garden furniture today, and glider cushions can be a great way to enhance the look of any garden in an easy and affordable way.  Here are a few tips to use when purchasing outdoor glider cushions.

Probably the most important thing to do when purchasing gilder cushions you plan to use outdoors is to make sure the ones you buy are waterproof.  Weather resistance is a must if your cushions are going to last, especially if you live in an area that gets a lot of rain.  This is also true if you are buying outdoor bar stool cushions as well.

The next most important quality to look for in a glider cushion is fade resistance.  Your cushions are going to spend a lot of time exposed to the sun’s rays, and their colors will fade eventually unless they have been treated with special chemicals formulated to provide protection against the effects of the sun.  Cushions thus protected can be expected to go much longer without fading than cushions lacking this protection.

Another important tip is this: make sure glider cushions that you buy are firm, yet comfortable.  Firmness is an important quality because firmness often equals comfort.  What you are looking for is a cushion that after it is pressed down, returns to its original shape fairly quickly.  For cushions made from higher quality foams, this should happen almost immediately.  Lower quality foams, which are also usually less comfortable, generally take noticeably longer to do so after being compressed.

Finally, look to buy cushions that are compatible with the existing look and feel of your garden decor.  There are certainly enough colors, designs and styles of cushions available on the market today, both in local retail stores and online, to be able to find a cushion that will be just right for your situation.
