Double or Single Pedestal Dressing Table?

dressing tableWhen considering the type of dressing table set to buy for your bedroom you have no doubt come across a bewildering array of choice, there is after all a huge range from which to chose and an equally huge number of stores from which to make your purchase. With issues such as price, size, materials, colour and price to consider you might get out of your depth remarkably quickly.

One of the less obvious decisions you make will have an impact on at least two of the others in that list – whether to go with a double pedestal dressing table or a single pedestal dressing table. But what exactly is the difference?

Single Pedestal Dressing Table

The single pedestal dressing table is basically a dressing table with a single set of drawers, or a cupboard on the left or the right hand side of the table. These types of table are usually much smaller than their double pedestal counterparts and consequently (usually) much cheaper. This is of course relative to the materials used in the construction of your dressing table and whether or not it requires much self assembly.

Double Pedestal Dressing Table

The double pedestal dressing table is usually a much more impressive piece of furniture and it is this one that I would recommend you go for if you have the space and the resources to accommodate it. Go for something in Solid Oak or Pine. If you look upon your purchase as an investment rather than just another piece of furniture that will fall apart in a few years time, the double pedestal solid wood mirrored dressing tables are likely to hold their value and will make for a beautiful heirloom to pass down to your children in years to come.

Of course ultimately the choice should be guided by how the chosen dressing table will fit into your bedroom and whether or not real wood will suite the overall decor. If your bedroom is more contemporary you may want to consider getting an equally stylish painted dressing table.
