When people are planning out their dream home and considering the many options for attractive furnishings, the bathroom design aspect is often left out and overlooked. Though it is only a small part of the home, having an attractive bathroom reflects the taste of the homeowner and shows they take pride in keeping an aesthetically pleasing theme throughout the home.

There are many options for bathroom design to choose from, all which depend on, though may vary slightly from, the general theme of your home. For modern and minimalistic homes, the bathrooms should be designed to reflect that; for more quaint and traditional homes, rugs in the bathroom and marble wallpapers or floor tiles are more expected and enjoyed.

Contemporary bathrooms usually contain large mirrors and simple, though uniform, colours and patterns. Simple colours such as black and white work very well, especially when combined together to create contrast between the select features of your bathroom. For instance: having a white sink over a black tiles floor (both of any material though marble and stone with a polished finish work best) draws attention to both the design of the sink and the floor. Lighting is another option to consider, as modern bathroom are designed with a great deal of lighting options in mind. Different colours can be set in the bathroom to create an ambience, such as blue or green, and depending on the pre-existing colour scheme, can create a dazzling aura in your bathroom.

The mirror may not need to be particularly large, only big enough to serve basic needs, but the mirrors can be chosen to have a decorated frame around it. The carpet and tiles in traditional bathrooms are also meant to match without clashing, the traditional bathroom is designed to not clash with colours and instead create a familiar and homely feeling inside the room.

Whether you plan on setting up your bathroom design as modern or traditional, keeping in mind these simple archetypes can greatly help you reach a decision about the décor.
