Although they may be called garden urns, these decorative planters can be use virtually anywhere inside and outside of the home. These types of planters also come in many different shapes, sizes, and materials, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding something that matches your garden perfectly.
Wood planters are typically made from teak, cedar, or redwood and are good choices for patio planting. It may be necessary to store this kind of planter inside during in-climate weather.
Planters that are stoneware or earthenware are considered part of the ceramic group and are typically kilned and glazed. Care needs to be taken with ceramic planters because they are fragile and will break if not stored correctly.
Concrete planters can be very heavy depending upon the size of the urn and can be quite expensive. These planters do not normally need to be brought inside because they can withstand most outside elements.
There are many different kinds of metal available today that can be used to make unique and interesting urns. The planters made from copper, zinc, and stainless steel may need to be brought in during rain or snow but those made from wrought iron will not typically be harmed by precipitation.
One of the nice things about all of these different types of urns is that they can be used for more than just planters. Many people use urns as bird feeders and bird baths, and some use them as squirrel feeders. They can also be used as fountains by putting fountain parts in the bottom of them and hooking them up to water.
Because of their appeal and beauty, planters have become very popular in both indoor and outdoor decorating. If a garden, patio or even a room inside a house is lacking something garden urns may be the answer, especially because there are so many to choose from.
