Wooden Wardrobe Closets Or Cheap Portable Closets?

If you’re looking at getting an extra closet for more storage space, you will need to decide if you want to spend more money on a nice wooden wardrobe closet or save money on a cheaper portable closet. Which one is the best closet? In this article, we will look at a pro and con style assessment of these two closet storage units to help you decide which one is going to work best for you.
Wooden Wardrobe Closets
A wooden wardrobe closet has the benefit of being, first of all, part of the armoire family. This means there’s a level of quality associated with the product (usually.) This translates into a solid, heavy storage closet that’s not going to break or easily fall apart. A good wooden armoire can last a lifetime and be something that’s passed down to your kids. The storage capacity is noteworthy, as a wooden wardrobe unit like this contains both shelving space and a closet area for your clothes on hangers.
On the other hand, they are hard to move since a bulky, 150 pound armoire by defualt is going to take more than one person to lift. Additionally, they cost a lot of money. For a nice wooden wardrobe closet, you are looking at spending at least $400 or $500, a price which quickly moves up into the $800 to $2,000 range for a higher quality product.
Portable Closets
Portable closets are light weight and easy to move. Usually consisting of a wire metal frame outfited with a cloth covering on all sides, a portable closet will be fixed with wheels for easy transport. This means they can go from room to room within the home with ease, and if you like, can even be taken with you if you’re driving somewhere and want your own closet storage space.
Portable closets are also relatively cheap. You can find a portable closet such as the ones described here for $50 to $100.
On the other hand, compared to wooden wardrobe closets, a portable closet might be considered flimsy and cheaply made. They’re not going to last forever, that’s for sure, and all that moving around may cause the unit to wear and tear much faster than other stand alone closets.
So What’s Best?
So what is best? The answer to that question depends on how much money you have to spend on a storage closet and what your needs are. If you are staying in the same place for awhile, and need a nice looking, dependably piece of furniture for storing clothes, go with the wooden wardrobe armoire. If you are on the go a lot, and need extra space but don’t have much money for it, go for the portable closet.
